Molly Sims | Fertility Smoothie
Let me start off by saying, NO, I am not trying to get pregnant... and YES, I know that fertility is clearly not an issue for me. Well, at least it wasn't 8-9 years ago when I was having my two boys. With that being said, lets think about that for a sec... a lot has changed in the past (nearly) decade. I'm well aware of the fact that I am now in my thirties which naturally changes a lot in a woman's reproduction. I saw you roll your eyes! It's true! Your fertility begins to drop around the age of 32 (which I just turned in December). I've done several fitness competitions since having my kiddos which required harsh dieting and extreme training which can seriously screw up your hormones.
While I am not trying to get pregnant right now, I do hope to one day in the near future, expand our family. When I bought Molly Sims book, "Everyday Supermodel", I honestly wasn't expecting to get so much insight to her first pregnancy and how she prepared her body to carry her beautiful baby boy. Her book inspired me to start prepping my body to give our future bundle the best I possibly can.
Lori Bregman’s Fertility Smoothie
(Molly Sims drank this every morning before getting pregnant with her first)
Ingredients:
Almond Milk or Coconut Milk (I was out of both so I used 1/2C. Kefir)
Bee Pollen, 1 tsp (*Do not use if you have a bee allergy)
Royal Jelly, 1 tsp (*Do not use if you have a bee allergy)
Antioxidant-Rich Frozen Berries, 2/3C. (Found big bag at Sprouts Market)
Protein Powder, 1 Scoop (not shown- uses something natural and clean, without a lot of additives or soy)
Maca Root Powder, 1.5 tsp.
Omega Swirl, 2 tsp.
Acai Powder, 1 TBSP. (not shown)
Mixed Powder Greens, 1/2 Scoop
2 shots of Wheatgrass (not shown, Molly uses a frozen one by Evergreen, but you can use powder or fresh shots instead)
Directions:
Read dose/serving information on back of each product. Mix everything together in a blender. Use more or less milk to achieve a desired consistency.
What it all Does: (according to Birth Doula and Life Coach, Lori Bregman) • Powdered Greens, berries and acai: Feed and promote healthy cell growth and help nourish the blood. • Wheat grass: Lowers FSH levels, nourishes cells, helps restore hormone balance, and helps alkaline your PH levels, which makes it better for sperm to live in. • Maca root: Nourishes the entire endocrine system, enhances fertility and brings hormones into balance. Also increases sex drive, vitality and gives you tons of energy. • Royal jelly: Balances hormones, supports the endocrine system, helps raise estrogen levels in women, and helps increase sperm quality and testosterone levels in men. • Bee pollen: Contains high levels of vitamins, acts as a natural aphrodisiac, nourishes the ovaries, increases fertility, regulates the menstrual cycle and helps produce healthy eggs in women, and increases sperm count in men. • Protein powder: Repairs and builds healthy tissues. • Liquid omegas: Helps stabilize your moods, lowers inflammation in the body, increases blood flow to the uterus, regulates the menstrual cycle, ovulation, and cervical mucus in women, and increases sperm mobility in men.
This smoothie is so delicious! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. This morning I drank mine while I got caught up on the latest fitness trends and dranks some hot ginger tea (because it's FREEZING outside).
